Blood for Freedom

Aside from students and employees enjoying a day with their family at home, people forget the true meaning of Independence day. Every 12^th of June, we commemorate the independence of the Philippines from Spain. Filipinos from more seven thousand islands and in different Filipino communities all over the world celebrate this special day.

          It’s been a hundred and twenty-one years since our ancestors sacrificed their lives and fortunes to gain the freedom of the Filipino people. It was the most significant event in our country’s history. The freedom we achieved was not for free. That is why we celebrate our country’s independence not only to relax and get away from work, but to thank our forefathers the sacrifices they have made. They offered their lives for us and for our generation to live and survive.

          Some Filipinos specially children in our generation nowadays don’t give that much importance to our heroes. They gave their life for us, and as a sign of gratitude we need to recognize and salute the heroes. Our heroes that were the reason that we have freedom and independence from Spaniards that colonized our own country and home.
