Kannawidan Festival is the most awaited festival of our province. They call it the KANNAWIDAN Ylocos Festival, it is also a time to commemorate the anniversary of Ilocos Sur as a province since it was separated on February 3, 1818. Kannawidan is a variant of the Ilocano word "tawid" meaning heritage or inheritance.
The celebration of their festival is joined by thousands of visitors from other parts of the Philippines and other countries in enjoying the street dancing and different contests and activites prepared by the local government with the help of the local industries and communities. There are also booths of every town with their “OTOP” or one town, one product. Celebrities, bands, and other famous personalities are invited to perform during the night.
Ilocanos have been celebrating Kannawidan for 202 years and the province will continue to preserve their home, culture, and products.
